Join us for this rare inter-cultural 5-Day Intensive Retreat at the La Casa Medicina Ancestral, in Xoxocotla, Mexico, June to 5th, 2020. We will experience indigenous Mexican shamanic healing ceremonies, the plant ceremony in the Mazatec tradition of Maria Sabina, the Mayan Cacao Ceremony, the Temazcal (Mexican Medicine Sweat Lodge, Mud pool medicine, the Ecstatic Mask Dance, and participate in the Mayan Atlante Dance at the Temple of Quetzalcoatl with the medicine woman Eva Cecilia and the Mayan Dancers, at the ancient Tollan pyramid cite in Xochicalco, where don Gullermo Marin Ruiz will offer ancient Toltecayotl wisdom on site. Mikkal will help us get in touch with our Guardian Spirit and then lead us in psychoshamanic practices of active dreaming (while awake), and the House Dream Gate for shamanic sleep-dream re-entry. Learn the ancient traditions concerned with eating for health and healing, for maintaining health (the food experiences at the Ancestral Medcine House are delicious and shamanically enchanting. The dreaming work draws on Jungian psychology, and is reminiscent of Carlos Castaneda’s “The Art of Dreaming.” According to don Guillermo, the Toltecayotl teacher, Carlos Castaneda, the controversial anthropologist and writer really was gathering much of the ancient Toltecayotl traditions that belong not to Castaneda, a Peruvian-American, but to indigenous Mexico.

The teachings and ceremonies will by offered in Spanish and English (Monica Zohar translating), and the private guest huts with palm-thatched roofs in the ambiance of palm trees and a tropical climate. See the Logistics Section below for details.

FLIGHT  TO MEXICO CITY AND BUS LOGISTICS TO XOXOCOTLA: You will need to book your flight to Mexico City, perhaps coming a day early, spend a night in a hotel surrounding the airport, and then take the Bus to Xoxocotla the next day, arriving on June 30th to get checked in. We recommend the Bus as it is fairly simple.  You will need to take a taxi to the South Bus Terminal at Taxquena. The trip is about an hour and 40 minutes without stops, and there are a few stops,  but 30 minutes or so after Cuernavaca you will come to Xoxocotla. Ask the Bus driver to let you off at the entrance to Xoxocotla, in front of the Taxi base. Take a taxi car to the Ancestral Medicine House (costs about 30 pesos)  or if you use a picturesque Taxi-motorcycle (20 pesos). The Ancestral Medicine House is very close. Ask the taxi driver to bring you to Tlapalehui, following the Hummingbird signs. When you arrive you will see the domed Temazcal. You will finally be in the heart of indigenous Mexico, but will find the Medicine House property, nested in a sacred land of great beauty. When you return to Mexico city, you won’t want to be rushed, I would recommend booking your return-flight home sometime the day after the event, allowing yourself to get back to your Mexico City hotel by the airport and get a good night’s rest, before your return flight. You may prefer to remain in Mexico City and explore Teotihuacan and such. If you would like  information for trains and car rentals, just ask Mikkal via email at Shamanicar@aol.com, or contact Eva Ceclia at the tele # above. Also we recommend putting the Ancestral Medicine House address and telephone numbers in your cell, and that you use GoogleMaps, and enter the Casa Medicina Ancestral into it.

WHAT TO BRING: Loose, comfortable clothing, suitable for warm weather, women may wear skirt /dresses and need a dress in the Temazcal. You will need some personal items: a journal and pen, good to have coloring pencils too. You will need a bath towel, sunscreen, perhaps insect repellent, a swimsuit (for Frog mud pool bath ceremony), water shoes to enter the apantli, comfortable shoes, a hat to cover from the sun and for ceremonial outfit, and a jacket or sweater for the cooler evenings and mornings.
